Social Awareness
Bringing Positive Change to the Communities We Serve
The foundation of Wingate’s culture is service and contribution, striving to impact lives beyond the communities we build and manage. These principles have been actively instilled by the Schuster Family who lead by example and demonstrate the importance of giving back at every level through various philanthropic efforts.

OPERATION P.E.A.C.E.
In 1995, Wingate Companies founded Operation P.E.A.C.E., which stands for Positive Education Always Creates Elevation. It began at the Village of Bedford Pines housing community in Atlanta as an after-school enrichment project run by local college students. Over the years it has grown into an award-winning, full-service program for both children and adults that promotes academic achievement, computer literacy, and social, vocational and technical skills.
In 2001, Wingate opened a second chapter of Operation P.E.A.C.E. in Boston that provides youth with homework assistance and other extracurricular opportunities, while also encouraging academic success and cultural awareness.
Operation P.E.A.C.E. has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), civic and educational organizations, along with numerous leaders in business and entertainment, such as basketball legend Magic Johnson. THE SCHUSTER FAMILY TRANSPLANTATION RESEARCH CENTER AT BRIGHAM AND WOMEN’S HOSPITAL
In the late 1970s, Mark Schuster’s younger brother Scott was in jeopardy of life-threatening kidney failure due to a hereditary condition. The brothers underwent a complicated series of procedures that ultimately resulted in a lifesaving transplant surgery. This complex experience led the Schuster family on a mission to help other individuals and families achieve lifelong, successful kidney transplants with minimized stress and complications.
In 2004, the Schuster Family established the Transplantation Research Center (TRC) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. This clinic provides a single-day, pre-transplant evaluation to limit multiple stressful trips to the hospital, reduce patient time to transplant listing and give structure to support collaboration among caregivers, patients and families. This center also allows specialists to study transplantation immunobiology and stem cell biology in addition to enhancing patient safety and long-term successful outcomes.

“When I found Operation P.E.A.C.E. it was a blessing to me. I really appreciate everything this program and Mallory have done for me and my family. I want to just say thank you, thank you!, because without this program I don’t know where my son would be.”
